FAQ
Below, we present the most frequently asked questions to our car scrapyard staff, aiming to provide you with quick and clear answers to the most common inquiries.
At our car scrapyard, you can find a wide selection of used car parts and complete cars without documentation, depending on availability and vehicle condition. Complete bodywork and documentation with a complete car cannot be purchased separately. Parts that are integral components of larger elements, such as glove compartment handles, seat adjustment knobs, bonnet badges, sun visor holders, and similar items, are not sold individually.
Information about available purchase permits is published every Monday, and payment can be made in cash or via prior transfer to our bank account.
We provide guarantees on:
- Engines and gearboxes – 3 months
- Electronic components – 14 days
- Bodywork parts are sold on a ‘seen and bought’ basis.
Returns are possible within the warranty period upon presentation of the receipt.
1. What do I need to do before bringing my car to Auto-Tomi scrapyard for recycling?
Before bringing your car to the Auto-Tomi scrapyard, the vehicle must be deregistered. You will need a copy of the owner’s ID or the current owner’s sales agreement, as well as the vehicle registration certificate and logbook, to allow proper verification of the information in accordance with the regulations and standards of the Republic of Croatia for handling hazardous waste.
2. What happens to a car after it is delivered to the Auto-Tomi scrapyard?
Hazardous waste is removed from the car:
- Engine oil
- Gearbox oil
- Coolant
- Shock absorber oil
The vehicle is placed on a waterproof surface. After placement, parts suitable for reuse are removed, and the vehicle is then properly recycled by
the company CE-ZA-R.
3. How much compensation will I receive for a vehicle?
The vehicle compensation depends on the year, condition, and model of the vehicle. It can amount to €0.14/kg or more. The vehicle weight can be found in the vehicle registration document under field G (Unladen vehicle weight).
4. What documentation does the Auto‑Tomi scrapyard have?

No. Auto-Tomi scrapyard holds a work permit issued in 2007 by the Ministry of Environmental Protection, Spatial Planning, and Construction (MZOPUG), so hazardous waste such as batteries, used oil, catalytic converters, aluminum, and similar materials must, by law, be recycled and handed over to an authorized hazardous waste collector.
15. What is the process for buying items at Auto-Tomi scrapyard?
You first call to check the availability of the desired part and arrange its removal from your vehicle. Our staff then verify the condition of the part from the Auto-Tomi scrapyard vehicle and remove the requested part. The verified part is handed over to the customer, who then makes the payment.
16. What if the car does not have Croatian license plates?
If the vehicle is not registered in Croatia, a lower fee is charged upon purchase, as Auto-Tomi pays an additional fee to the Environmental Protection Fund. When handing over a vehicle with foreign license plates, Auto-Tomi issues a receipt confirming vehicle acceptance, which can be used to deregister the vehicle abroad. At the time of handover, it is also necessary to present an identity card or passport and the vehicle’s documentation for inspection.
